2017 Hike La Palma Puerto Tazacorte to Mirador del Time Rother nr 36

Mike left the Tazacorte Marina at around 0900 hrs and walked to the Puerto Tazacorte
The impressive cliff which was about to be scaled

The hike (part of hike nr 36 in The Rother Walking Guide), starts at the side of the Kiosco Teneguia on the GR-131

Starting to gain height - looking back towards the marina

The hike zig-zags up the steep rock face
With continuous wonderful views

The circular fish farms moored 1/2 mile off the coast

Looking over the Barranco de las Angustias

Having reached the top of the cliff, the trail continues upwards following a series of local cobbled and concrete roads

Through the Banana plantations

Reached the Mirador del Time at 10.55 hrs

For a welcome cup of tea and Bailley chocolate cake - yummy!
View from the Mirador over the Barranco de las Angustias with Los Llanos and Tazacorte clearly visible

Bananas everywhere

After refreshments, continued up the GR-131 towards the Torre del Time

Views into the Caldera de Taburiente to the left
At 11.50 hrs reached crossroads my path would leave the GR-131 and head to the right

Under the irrigation water pipes

Back down to the Barranco de las Angustias - Los Llanos clearly in view

The trail zig-zaged down crossing the LP-1 road several times

Meandering through the banana plantations

Crossing the LP-1

down, down, down

The footbridge across the Barranco de las Angustias

Croossed the footbridge to gain access to the barranco

Then followed the barranco back to Puerto Tazacorte

Soon entered a gorge which had been formed from countless years of errosion in the barranco floor

Eventually reached the beach of Puerto Tazacorte

Looking back up the Barranco de las Angustias from the road bridge

And walked back to the marina arriving back on Dutch Link at 14.30 hrs -  A very very enjoyable hike!

The track of my walk as recorded by the very useful ViewRanger app on my Ipad plus VR generated statistics
