Drove via Ouazarzate to Boumalne Dades
Stopped briefly in Ouazarzate to visit the old Kasbah
and the old residential area
In Boumalne Dades we stayed the nght at the fascinating Kasbah Tizzarouine
with its imposing entrance
situated on the edge of a plateau overlooking the Dades river
There is a selection of accomodation for all tastes - we chose to sleep in these caves
carved out of the rock - reminiscent of Cappadocia in Turkey
Alternatively we could have slept in a Berber Tent
or in a normal room.
The restaurant terrace has a great view over the Dades valley
Tagine of couse for supper
while muscians warmed their drums
before the open hearth
Fiona could not resist joining the band
and Mike tried his hand at the Berber style castanettes
Time to move on after a very pleasant overnight stay
PS the wife of the son of the owner is a Dutch Lady - Astrid Emmers who amongst other things runs a Travel Agency Dades-Reizen from Den Bosch in Holland
