From Boumalne du Dades drove NE to the beautiful Dades Gorge
passed this minerette which a stork had adopted as its family home
this rock formation caught our eye
the beginnings of the gorge
hotel perched on the side of the cliffs
more evidence of the large amount of rain which had fallen here
the gorge narrows
and the swollen river floods the road
halting traffic for a while
We decided to follow a rough track mentioned in the Lonely Planet which starts just as the Gorge narrows
after a while we make our own trail up the steep hillside
reaching a fine lookout point - good place for our picnic lunch
temperatures low enough to make wearing a fleece pleasant
Back in the car we retrace our route down the Gorge
past the hotel
down the hairpin bends
About halfway back to Boumalne du Dades, we stopped for another short hike
donkeys are a main form of transport in this part of Morocco
views over the fertile flood plain
The low sun provided us with some wonderful shadow effects
more fascinating rock formations
another Kasbah
crossing the river
Another puncture
yet another nail
no problem - just force a peice of special rubber into the hole
and hey-presto the puncture is repaired!
Our hotel in Tinerhir
The Kasbah Hotel
with handy carpark
the terrace where we would have breakfast
these "windows"caught our eyes
This hotel was recommended to us by one of the staff at the hotel we stayed at in Boumaline du Dades and was fit for purpose
